I think it sounds like the optics are not connected in any way to electronics. So you would just be looking through a simple telescope. The electronics sound like there must be a gyro-enhanced orientation sensor (maybe like this http://www.microstrain.com/m anuals/3DM-GFAQ.pdf) plus a GPS. What's the point? This gadget is very neat technology, but since the "eyepiece" is just a piece of plastic, it won't let you see anything more than you see with your naked eye.  All this does is replace a star atlas.  Which is nice, but $400 is about $350 too much to charge. posted by JonJuly 10, 2007 at 15:45 [ e ]
