The tag on the picture you posted actually says "sawatte kudasai," which means "Please touch me."

The Japanese culture seems to be facinated with poop since Toriyama Akira (Dragon Ball) introduced the poop jokes in his early manga series Dr. Slump, which also included cutely drawn talking poopoo characters.  The manga, which is still one of my favorites, is quite hilarious and seem that started the poop popularity.

But I'm sure that this poop phenomenom is a nich thing...

The comment you have posted on your site that says "I don't know why but the Japanese have a facination with poop" is not only immature, but also offensive. I am curious as to why you may think something like this and why you would find it important enough to post on your website in a fairly easy to view spot. And why exactly is it a phenomnon? I'm sorry, it's just that I cannot believe that people your age actually have the time to post garbage like this. Just because a great majority of people in Japan find it humorous doesn't mean you can label them as "poop-lovers" or something highly immature like that.

TheBookoftheStone: get over yourself.  The fact of the matter is, there is a great deal of poop-loving that goes on over here.  Regardless of that, nothing in this post actually mentioned the Japanese as being "poop-lovers."

If you don't like things written here, don't read it! As a Japanese, I don't feel anything offensive to Japanese from these comments. One of my favorite comic strip is "Dr.Slump" and in that comic strip, very often, Arare-chan will stop on the street to poke a poop with a twig called "tsun tsun" I loved it! Cause, as a small boy, I did same thing! (Often those were horse's dropping.) Can I put a link here?
