Panasonic is pushing their newest MP3 Player

It's a got profile a few mm smaller than an iPod shuffle but almost twice as thick and it includes FM tuner and display but it's nearly twice as expensive for the 1gig model.  What are they thinking?

I not sure abouts it's specces but if you want a good mp3 player you should really try the swedish brand jens of sweden. They specialize in korean mp3 players and give them a cool design. www.jensofsweden.com

The prices are very good too, you can get a player with 1 gig of space for only 300 $ and its not bigger then a cigarett lighter and comes with a cord so you can hang it around your neck. The cheap models cost about 200 -250 $ where you can choose from 256 and 500 megs of space.

I have one my self, it holds 500 mb of space and is very small.

Those are nice designs but why would I want to pay $300 for 1gig when I can get 1gig for $149 from Apple?  I can imagine paying $20-$30 more for a display but not double.

Well imo I think first of all that jens of swedens mp3 players look much better than any player from apple. My first impression from the I-pod didnt impress me, it sure is small and dosen't weigh much but the jos mp3 players dont way much either. My weighs about 40 grams which is not very much. The display and navigationsystem is superb, you also have a radio and you can record voices with very good soundquality. The equalizer.... change the sound options, you maybe want some heave bass or some higher frekvensis for pop songs, this is just a few functions of what it really offers. It even has a sleep timer so it will shut down for example after 15min, 30min or one hour.

The Ipod shuffle does not even have a menu which I find very bad.

Why pay more? Nice design, more functions and a menu.

In the end, it dodes come down to cost for most people. 1 gig for $150 as opposed to $300 will be the deciding factor for most people. These players are more than likely to be shoved into a pocket than put on display. Many people do that with their iPods and even change their headphones for fear of being robbed.

It has become like a trend displaying your mp3 here in sweden but I have never ecountered someone being robbed on a mp3 player, but that maybe depends on where you live and where you hang out. But I understand your concern but the constant developement of portable mediaplayers will make them much cheaper in the future and I dont think it is a big problem these days atleast not where I live. I actually changed my headphones to sony headphones but the only reason for that was that the standard headphones sucked and I wanted better sound. But how often do people get robbed during daylight? Btw how common is it in japan that people get robbed, I have gotten a very nice impression of japan and the crimerate must be quite low?
