Jinmin Cafe

One day I had to go to the immigration office.  There happens to be one in Shibuya which most foreigners seem not to know about which means it's less crowded.  Afterwords I thought I'd wander around and try to find a place for lunch and I stumbled upon this little cafe.  The Jinmin Cafe.

Right in downtown Shibuya, buried behind all the major streets, down an alley or two I found this little outdoor cafe.  Part of a plant store and part of a clothing store.

I sat down and ordered chicken, mashed sweet potatoes and a milk tea and sat and enjoyed the nice weather.

If you want to find it, especially if you need a break from the loudness of Shibuya, go to Shibuya Tower Records.  From Tower Records cross to the opposite corner of the intersection and walk up the hill (one one direction is up hill).  Take the first possible right in an alley.  No worries it's not dark and scary and there are actually lots of other stores, cafes and restaurants back that way.  Stick to your right and you should come to it within a couple of minutes.

Portions are a little small....is this normal japanese portions ?

Normal Portions
Yes, those are normal portions.  That's one of the first things I noticed when I first got here.  How small the portions are compared to America.  But, maybe that's one reason why American's are having an obesity problem.  I decided to live with it and after a couple of weeks I found it was plenty. (and I lost 15 pounds over the couse of 6 months )

So funny. My name is jinmin.

I wonder if 'jinmin' has some meaning in Japan. In Korea, it has no meaning.

If I go to Tokyo, I will go there.

jinmin is chinese word. It seems like a chinese restaurant. I miss all the good food...

By the way, I've just visited this web site by searching "wells fargo". Maybe I should reconsider about opening an account there. haha
and yeah, citi bank is the best if you transfer money aften but expensive fees.

It's very interesting to know how american or people from other country see japan.

It's wonder that about your cafe'. Because in thailand I work about coffee bean. I love it.I didn't why.But I think you know.If I can go to japan,I will go there.

Jinmin is a Chinese name, meaning "gold" (jin) and "quick" (min). I have a Chinese friend whose name is Jinmin.

Hey! My name is also Jinmin. Jinmin is not just a Chinese name, it can be Korean too. Also, the meaning of the name can change!  It does not always mean "gold" and "quick"!  Mine means "true" and "bright."

May all Jinmin's of the world live long and prosper! If I were in Tokyo, I would want to visit this cafe.

Hey! My name is jinmin too but people in my class tease me about my name but i don't give a damn! i was always thinking that no one in the world have the same name as mine but then u guys show up! Awesome!
